Call for Expressions of Interest for facilitators for the Cost Estimation for the Resources Industry Course
Introduction
AusIMM is seeking Expressions of Interest (EOI) from capable and willing individuals with the ability to work with AusIMM to deliver our Cost Estimation for the Resources Industry online short course. The course is fully developed and AusIMM hosts two intakes each year (each intake runs for five weeks).
The role involves up to 2-4 hours per week for the duration of the course (depending on the number of modules you are involved in), 2-3 hours of pre-course preparation and 1-2 hours of post-course evaluation. You will be remunerated for your time and working fully online.
In 2024, intakes are scheduled for 4 March–7 April and 2 September–6 October.

Background
Based on the Cost Estimation Handbook (Monograph 27), the Cost Estimation for the Resources Industry course was launched in 2021 and has been run 5 times to ~350 participants.
The course is made up of four modules delivered over four weeks (including one 90 minute live session per week), and a fifth week is then provided to participants to complete all of the course activities.
The course is built around the following key topics:
- Module 1: Overview of Cost Estimation
- Module 2: Capital Cost Estimation
- Module 3: Operating Cost Estimation
- Module 4: Estimation Techniques, Challenges and Case Studies
All AusIMM Online Courses go through a process of continuous improvement so a debrief meeting is held after every intake to review participant feedback and to identify opportunities to enhance the course content and activities.
AusIMM Online Courses are delivered in a state-of-the-art online learning platform aimed at maximising peer-to-peer engagement and workplace learning application. The assessment criteria, comprising short answer questions posted in online forums, multiple choice questions and workplace activities, are expected to ensure those who successfully complete the course will have achieved significant competency in the subject matter of the course.

About the EOI Process
This EOI is open to individuals who have capability in facilitation as well as cost estimation expertise. Applicants are required to complete the EOI Application Form, which accompanies this document, by the due date, as shown below.
EOI Submissions Close: 5pm AEDT, Friday 3 November 2023
Selection Criteria
AusIMM will select the successful applicant from:
- the experience and expertise described in the EOI Application Form response, and CV provided
- presentation to a selection panel (offered to a short list of applicants)
- referee check
Services Required
The role includes the following responsibilities (to be allocated to up to four facilitators):
- Work with AusIMM to continuously refine, improve and update the course content and activities as required. This may require the development of new materials, the revision of existing materials, and/or the recording of videos.
- Actively promote the course on LinkedIn and/or other platforms using supplied materials and in some instances recording a video interview with AusIMM’s marketing team.
- Undertake preparation required, including attend a Zoom /Learning Management System orientation session (45 minutes)
- Facilitate and deliver one or more of 4 x 90 minute virtual classrooms in Zoom (one per module, PowerPoint presentations provided).
- Facilitate responses to course discussion questions on the learning platform for the duration of the course (5 weeks).
- Respond to content-related questions on the course forum for the duration of the course (5 weeks).
- Attend course debrief meeting (one hour).
AusIMM requires the successful applicant/s to:
- Dedicate the appropriate time and resources to the refinement and delivery of the course.
- Be prepared to think of the course less about content and more about participant engagement and workplace application.
- Meet deliverable deadlines.
Terms of Engagement
The successful EOI applicant will be engaged through a formal contract. The contract may include the following services parameters:
- Quality standard of materials
- Efficient and cost-effective delivery to agreed budget and deadlines
- Availability of expertise skilled in delivering the project to agreed timeframes
- That intellectual property rights to the materials developed specifically for this project remain the property of AusIMM
- That materials developed by the applicant prior to the engagement, having not be transformed, remains the property of the applicant
- That AusIMM may use the facilitator’s recording of module virtual classrooms for the purpose of the course
- Confidentiality of materials and the project as a whole
- Guarantee non-plagiarism and non-copyright material
- Regular status updates and immediate notification of missed milestones
- That engaged parties hold public liability and professional indemnity insurances
